On October 3rd-7th, I attended the 17th annual Alabama Art Colony on Lake Martin. This was a wonderful experience to be able to paint all day--all week. A time to focus on creating art. My teacher was Dot Turnipseed-Svendson from Washington, DC. She was a great instructor and I learned a lot. The first paintings she had us do are small value studies from black and white photos. We could use only 4 and 6 values from white to black. These paintings are 6"x8" and 5"x7". I really like the small landscape. It looks like a night landscape.
