Old Barn at Cheaha's Back Door
This old barn is located behind Munford Elementary School in Munford, Alabama. The mountain in the background is the foothills Mt. Cheaha, the highest point in Alabama. For people who are not familiar with Alabama, it is a beautiful mountain to paint. My friend, Gale Allen (who is the art teacher at Munford Elementary) met on a Saturday (April 17th) to do a little plein air painting. It was so relaxing and the weather was absolutely perfect. A farmer was off to the side plowing his fields to plant, roosters were crowing, and the sun was shining. Great morning to paint.

"Geese"
This painting was outside of Munford on the way to Oxford, Alabama on Highway 21. Notice Mt. Cheaha in the background. Gale and I really had some good luck. We picked a spot where we could paint Mt. Cheaha and a small pond. When we drove up to unload our painting gear---four Canadian geese were enjoying the day by the pond. I painted two of the geese and Gale painted me sitting by the pond feeding the geese crackers. It was a good day.

What a talent! So glad you teach ART at LES!
